Crazy how God can take the fear and turn it into an adventure if you let him.
After my dad’s accident, I had to heal from what adventure took from me. I grew bitter about the idea of “risk” or “fun” and played it safe. I despised the thought of anything that wasn’t something I could control or grip if I needed to.
Well, here we are. Where my husband’s job was to build and climb ropes courses and now is to fly planes… Humorous. Right? It forced my heart to confront my fear. It forced me to face the discomfort of faith. I quickly learned “it’s not up to me.” The thought of control is just a mind game and we don’t have as much say as we think we do. But praise God and hallelujah for that simple fact.
Praise God it’s not up to Rachel.
This is my story of surrender. Not that I did it (or am doing right) but can totally recommend the “palms up” approach and letting it go. “Cast all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.”
1 Peter 5:7 ESV OR also known as…
“Live carefree for God. He is careful with you.” 1 Peter 5:7 MSG
Sometimes the best way to dismiss the fear is to face it straight on and realize it wasn’t as big as you thought it was in the first place. This is where great joy can be found. Trust me.
