Currently, we’re living on an Air Force base in Columbus, Mississippi and we welcomed Maddex into our world while calling this place “home.” Even though this is only temporary and I couldn’t do my dreams of wallpaper and semi-permanent decor, it was important to me that Maddex had a precious place of his own. With different pieces we’ve found from all over (some special with stories and some new) we’ve been able to create a place of peace for our little boy.
Maddex is now 5 months and we’ve used this room in so many different ways during these past few months. It’s the perfect landing place for us at all hours of the day (and night, hehe).
Crib Setup
Of course, once we started using his crib and we moved him from the bassinet to sleeping in his room, we removed the pillows and bear and only had the mattress and fitted sheet. So, no worries, friends! The crib is from Ikea and we’ve been using the Newton Living Mattress. We love this mattress because it’s breathable so even when he’s face down on his tummy, he can breathe through the mattress! Use the code rachel_awtrey50 for $50 off your own Newton Mattress! We also have loved using the Solly Baby sheets! They’re the softest things you’ll ever lay your baby on! Sound familiar? Solly Baby is also the brand that makes one of my favorite wraps that I would baby-wear Maddex in! Use the code RACHEL10 for 10% off.
Decor
Mobile | We were gifted this beautiful mobile from an Etsy shop owner and it is just perfect! The planes, the colors, we love it
Name Banner | Another amazing Etsy shop! We had Maddex’s name printed on the banner when we decided on his first and middle name. Once he was born, we actually changed his middle name () and needed to have it changed on the banner. The company was so sweet and understanding and fixed it for us!
Be Kind Flag | A great Etsy shop. They have so many beautiful sayings on these pendants. We have one that says “be brave” as well.
Curtains + Rod | Curtain rod is from Ikea and the curtains are from Amazon.
Shelves | Grabbed these from Hobby Lobby to hold dainty pieces that hold meaning to us and Maddex
Artwork | One of my super talented friends, Sadie Wilson, painted this super incredible piece for Maddex‘s space. She has so many other perfect pieces!
Letter board | My mom had this for us with his name and birth weight waiting for us when we got home. I loved this sweet touch!
Rug | By far, one of the most requested items to link. We love this rug! So cozy and soft on our feet. When Maddex does tummy time, he loves feeling it and rolling around on it.
Book shelves | I love these acrylic shelves for so many things but to use them as bookshelves is one of my favorite ways to have them in my home. Books can easily look cluttered but with book shelves that are minimal like these, your eyes don’t get too overwhelmed.
Mirror | This mirror is a fun little addition so baby can say “hello” to themselves ☺️
Changing Station
Dresser | Another Ikea find! The Hermenes dresser is super popular and sells out quickly! We use this to keep his items organized and change him on top!
Changing Pad | We love this Keekaroo changing pad! Comes in lots of colors, easy to wipe down if there are any messy diaper changes and doesn’t slip around on the dresser!
Clothing Storage
Closet | We hang most of his clothes with these velvet hangers and organize them with these sweet wooden size dividers that we found on Etsy.
Dresser | These drawer organizers fit the Ikea dresser perfectly!
Other Items
We also love the Hatch sound machine! Our rocker/glider/recliner is luxurious and I am so so so happy I went with this purchase! It’s electric, has a place for a phone charger for those long snuggles, is extremely comfortable (in case you have to sleep in it) and it swivels, too. It literally does everything
Do you have something in your nursery that is a must have or that you love? You must share it in the comments so we all know! I remember stalking others nurseries the moment I found out I was pregnant and love how ours turned out.
