Do you find yourself wrestling with the way things are, wishing they were different, seeking a way out so you can just be “done with it?” I get ya sis.
I made a note a few mornings ago:
“DONKEY
Typically kings rode in on a horse or stallion but Jesus chose a donkey even though he was the Messiah. Just because it looks different doesn’t mean it’s any less.” (Matthew 21)
When Jesus could have chosen the higher ways, he chose the least of them. I’m grateful for a God that gets on my level, looks me in the eyes when things looked different than my “expectation” and says, “I know.” He took “out of the way routes” and made “out of the normal” moves to make a point to us. He knows the disappointment, he knows the change of plans, he knows the loneliness, the betrayal. The best part: he doesn’t just *know* it. He *chose* it . I’ve had May 22nd circled on my calendar for weeks, waiting for Thomas’s arrival home so I don’t have to do quarantine alone anymore and so I can have a piece of my “normal” back.
God took away my ordinary so he could replace it with the extraordinary and I’m better because of it. I can now live out of a “more” mentality because I’ve seen it exists in my loneliest of days.
Question for reflection: in what area of your life is God wanting to do some trading from ordinary to extraordinary?
