Have you ever pressed pause, found where you are and where you’re headed, scratched your head and thought, “wait a minute”? Maybe you’ve found yourself somewhere you didn’t think you were heading?
One of the lessons I’ve learned in the plane with Thomas is this: even if you start 1° off on your trip, the further you travel, the farther from the destination you’ll be in the long run.
After taking inventory of this past year, it’s clear to me that I’ve been a few degrees off in some areas of life. My flesh wants to tell me, “hey! No so bad! You were close.” But the longer I go with these habits and thoughts, the further I travel, I realize this was not the direction I wanted to travel at all.
This. This is why I can’t wait for a new year, a new quarter, a new month or even a new week. ‼️
“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end. They are new every morning.” (Lamentations 3:23)
“And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross ⚡️daily ⚡️ and follow me.” (Luke 9:23)
Being a few degrees off isn’t the problem necessarily. This is fixable – as long as we’re adjusting and seeing the need for it to be fixed and confirmed. The problem is the frequency (or infrequency) we survey our current location, ask for help and redirect.
How do we adjust our heading on the reg?
☆ ask the Holy Spirit for guidance
☆ get into the Word so you can find truth when things seem questionable
☆ survey the people around you. Will these people let you wander or will they help call you back and point you straight?
☆ ask someone to challenge you, mentor you and be wise counsel
Here’s to a normal Monday morning, nothing fancy, where we get to start fresh and re-direct where needed.
who’s with me?!
Me!
