Here are a few of the most popular things I’ve heard people say as to why they haven’t spoken up about the evil on display in our world:

1. “I don’t want to make people uncomfortable”
2. “I don’t talk about political topics on Instagram”
3. “I don’t even know where to start”

I challenge you:
Rather than thinking about people squirming a bit, think about all of the people that would feel championed.

Rather than considering this a political issue. Consider this a social issue.

Rather than keeping quiet because you don’t have the words to say something, ask something.

I was lead to a few amazing resources for “where to begin” in this conversation (thanks to what @lynnestroy shared with me and an article someone else shared, I can’t remember who shared it so if it was you, please let me know!) Here are a few of the steps we can take:

What are you intaking? What types of things are you reading/watch for entertainment? Are they produced/written by someone that looks different than you?

What are you saying? Are you using your voice in your community to charge and challenge people in conversation (and even in legislation)

Be willing to learn. BetheBridge.com is a fantastic recommendation I’ve received.

Take the implicit bias test to see if you have a bias that you might not be aware of.

Get uncomfortable and ask the Lord to seek your heart and reveal areas that need healing or redirecting. (Psalm 139:32-33)

Not saying I’m doing it perfectly but in the leaning in, I’ve learned some practical steps I want to pass onto you.

I’ve saved some of these thoughts to a highlight called “” that included these resources if you want to read them in entirety.

I’ll never have enough words, do enough, or know enough but I’m willing and I’m ready.
